One of Corrans most successful designs, and the design that really changed paddling forever, was his Disco. It was a natural thing then for him to want to take this design, and improve on it. What made the Disco so popular was that while it was responsible for completely revolutionizing playboating as we knew it, and introduced many of todays modern moves from Pan Ams to Air Loops, the Disco continued to be a favorite, long after “improved playboat specific” designs evolved from it.

The reason is simple - because the design was as adapt on river runs, from California’s steeps, to Norways mass volume, as it was winning rodeos. This makes getting to playspots easier.

With the Disco mold no longer in existence, the Stinger caries on this tradition at a sorely needed time. The Stinger follows the current trend in playboats in shortening the tail relative to the bow, and packing more volume into the middle of the boat. But it also holds true to the Disco design in its sidewall shape, outline and basic rocker profile.

Minor, but important changes have been made, like the narrowing of the tail near the tip with the “cut away” wings, a slightly more continuous rocker through the center, rounded rails, and a light double concave hull, and finally, increased knee and footroom, all there to take a winning design, and make it that little bit better.
