The Swallowtail is the design that comes from Corran’s years as a river board surfer and kayak surfer. His experience in having surfed river waves all around the globe lead to this design.

The Swallowtail  is designed to make “average” river waves fun. Most river waves are relatively slow and “gutless”, so having a wide board with high flotation so it swims well, and is able to “push” itself onto the wave face was critical. Big fast green waves like the ones where Corran lives in Montreal are few and far between, so our board is designed to surf the waves that the rest of us have.

The width is carried through the tail to give maximum support and lift, while a double barrel concave runs through the center of the board into a slight V release behind the fin cluster.

The boards fin set-up is a Quad+1. It can be ridden as a Quad fin, or as a tri fin “thruster”, depending on your preference, or ultimately as a 5-fin for maximum hold. The deck has a complete traction pad so there is no messing with surf wax, and inserts are molded into the board so it can be mounted with foot-straps.

So whether you’re an avid kayakers and playboater looking to make those river waves fun again, or a board surfer who finds himself living inland near some river waves, the Swallowtail is exactly what’s needed to make it fun - without having to worry about busting up an epoxy board.
